Treating Cerebal Palsy kids with Microcurrent

My assistant Candy, who has been working with me for a few months, witnessing all the patients with Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, Sprain Ankle etc. who recovered a lot faster than she expected, one day asked if I treat Cerebral Palsy kids. All because her 4 years old cousin, a case of Cerebral Palsy since a few months old after an episode of High Fever has been underwent treatment in various Government clinics & hospitals. She has frequent falls everyday (3-4 times daily) at age of 4 which is certainly a concern.

I reluctantly responded saying OK bring her in...let us try a course of Microcurrent to see what happens. I was reluctant because I was not sure of the outcome and also I have a misconception that this is going to take long as when I was a Physiotherapy student working in the government clinics seeing a lot of the Cerebral Palsied patients attending for years of treatment and the progress is gauged by months and years instead of the usual progress of my patients recovered in a matter of few sessions.

To my amazement, the kidʼs mom happily told me after the 5th session that her daughter has stopped falling and can walk steadily even holding a small basket in the affected arm and stepped over some obstacle scattered in the floor without tripping over.

Thereafter we had intensive therapy for 6 months over the 4 limbs especially the left (affected) side, aimed to release the muscle spasm especially the Hip Adductors to combat the scissoring gait, the tight TA (Tendo-achillis) for the tip-toe gait. In my opinion, Microcurrent is a much better alternative to surgery & Botox in releasing muscle spasm as we release the spasmodic muscle without compromise the muscle strength.

One thing I must praise this little girl. She is very co-operative of her age as she fully understands this treatment is helping her.

ADHD

Thereafter I also had experience treating a case of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). He presents the behaviour of always “On the go”, as if driven by a motor, talk non-stopped. Within 10 sessions, this 3 years old boy shows remarkable improvement.

Initially he canʼt walk but has to run with arms fling up in the air as if he has to catch his own balance. Just imagine it was rather dramatic and is not an acceptable behaviour. Then after 10 sessions of Microcurrent Therapy to the 4 limbs, he can walk slowly in his own pace with normal arm swing.

Shaken Baby Syndrome

This was a case of Child Abuse by an Indonesian maid when the boy was few months old. The maid was sentenced to few years jail. When I first seen the boy he was 5 years old with severe visual impairment that has to walk with hands touching the wall and delayed physical development with slow speech attending the school of the blind.

I have the privilege of treating this boy when he was 5 years old. Microcurrent was given to the 6 acu points surrounding the eyes to regenerate the damaged cells and also to the 4 limbs to improve balance and physical strength.

Co-incidentally after 30 sessions, the boy was able to see a lot better, less tics, and was accepted into a normal integrated school as his vision improved a lot. He can walk a lot more normal - partly due to improved balance, partly also he can see better. His temper also has improved and is a very caring boy now.

Kids with Nasal Allergy & Profuse Nasal Bleeding

Having a kid with frequent non-stop Nasal Bleeding in the household is just like having an activated bomb that can make the parents gone into nervous breakdown.

This is a 6 years old cousin of one of my assistant. One day his mom is so worried said she has to send him to the emergency room as he had this nasal bleeding non-stopped for a few hours. So before going to the emergency room, she wanted to try out if Microcurrent is helpful in such situation. So once again, I became the hero. Not only stopped the bleeding at once with the treatment. The frequent episode of profuse nasal bleeding also came to a stop after a few more sessions of Microcurrent Therapy. Thanks goodness!

As I became so famous treating Nasal Bleeding, thereafter I also treated a 12 years old girl of Profuse Nasal Bleeding, so bad that she became anaemic and once told her mom that she felt empty inside seeing the non-stopped bleeding.

She frequented the emergency room for many years and even doctors canʼt stop the bleeding just by applying pressure that they have to cauterize the bleeding site which only stopped for a few months. She kept the whole family so busy for so many years that the whole family has to take turns to hold her nose throughout the night during the bleeding attacks.

I treated her using my special Microcurrent on the 8 Nasal Acu points. Very effective. Within 10 sessions, this profuse nasal bleeding stopped, including the Nasal Allergy also fixed. No medication needed any more.

Talking about medication, one thing I really donʼt like using Antihistamine to treat Nasal Allergy is this only suppress nasal secretion and cause drowsiness which badly affecting the attention span of the kid hindering their learning capabilities.

Torticollis

According to a report by a Korean Teaching Hospital, incorporating Microcurrent into the treatment of Torticollis shows much better results. Conventional Physical Therapy for Torticollis mainly used Manual Therapy but if used Microcurrent in addition will be able to regenerate the affected Sternomastoid muscle which will release the muscle tension a lot more & effectively therefore less traumatic to the baby and the mom.

The Philosophy of Microcurrent

Your Microcurrent Therapist would do a thorough assessment to identify the problem, addressing the main concern of the child and the parent for every new condition. Like in the case of a Cerebral Palsy child with frequent falls, unsteady gait due to tight Hip Adductors leading to Scissoring Gait, tight TA - Tendo-achilles, leading to Tip toe gait. We will then specifically releasing the muscle tension of the particular group and also strengthen the opposing muscle group. The effect is so remarkable that usually we will be able to see a difference right after the treatment. This method is, in my personal opinion, much better than surgery or Botox injection as those will certainly weaken the specific muscle group though releasing the tension.

Again for each session, the caretaker or the child should report to the therapist of the progress or any new problem arising that need to tackle as it is very much like solving a puzzle as we eventually want to achieve a 100% improvement that a good communication with the therapist is mandatory. In addition regular specific follow-up exercise to strengthen or to stretch particular muscle group at home is very important.

Treating these conditions is very rewarding as kidʼs regenerating power is phenomenal, they recover a lot faster than you can expect. Yes, the damage to the particular area of the brain is permanent in the case of Cerebral Palsy. But do remember quite a large area of our brain is underused. Will there be a chance that once we overcome the main obstacle, the other reserves of the brain tissue will be able to kick in to compensate for the atrophied or damaged area?

You will also noticed that the method I used is not to suppress, to counteract, to go against. I used microcurrent to heal, to regenerate- to change the scar tissue cells from the hard fibrotic nature to the soft elastic nature. Microcurrent will wake up the body to respond to the need under the therapistʼs guidance. Funny enough, kids even young as 3 to 4 years old, once they know you are helping them, their inner mind will respond to co-operate with you.

Why & how Microcurrent can stop profuse nasal bleeding or stop nasal allergy? As I mentioned earlier, I applied Microcurrent on the 8 acu points surrounding the nose. This acted as electrical switch to the blood vessels surrounding the area to strengthen the vessel wall and the valves concerned which was originally very fragile compare to those of normal kids. Q & A of Childhealth Programme

Should I discontinue my current exercise therapy with the Programme in the Government PT & OT Clinic if the child join your Microcurrent Therapy?

No. Microcurrent Therapy only serves to enhance the childʼs health by releasing the tight up spasmodic muscle, strengthen the weaken, disused muscle so as to facilitate the current exercise therapy you have been working with the Government PT & OT clinic. It is certainly not a substitute for the existing programme you have been carry on since diagnosed.

When can the child start the Microcurrent Therapy?

The sooner the better. There is no age limit. In the case of Torticollis, we start the treatment as early as when baby is 10 days old. As the current is so low intensity of just one millionth of an ampere (One millionth of an AA cell battery), you donʼt expect any adverse reaction nor side effect to the child.

How frequent should I come for treatment?

We suggest an Intensive Programme for the first 10 sessions of daily treatment. Thereafter if another course is suggested, then can space out at 2-3 times per week for maintenance. Very often in the case of Nasal Allergy or Asthma, 10 sessions is sufficient to clear 80% of the symptoms.

Should I continue to wear special gadgets?

Our aim is to work the body so that it does not need to dependent on external support as far as possible. Like in the case of wearing a knee brace, the longer you wear it, the more dependent you are and the less the chance the muscle get exercised, the weaker it will become.

How about corrective lens in the case of visual impairment?

Again, if the child can see better after the treatment, we should gradually reduce the dependence. We have experience reducing the degree of short sightedness from 350 to 150 in 5 sessions of Microcurrent Therapy.

Should I discontinue the medication for Nasal Allergy/ Asthma?

This is our aim. We suggest to stop the medication during the period of the Microcurrent Therapy so as not to mess up the bodyʼs response to the Therapy. Like in the case of treating back pain, neck pain, we also suggest patient to stop taking pain killers, so we know the effect is a true response instead of a suppression by the medication. If after completion of the course, all symptoms stopped, there is no point to continue the medication any more.

Are there any guarantee?

There is no guarantee in Medical Science. I can only tell you my experience or let you see the pre & post treatment photo or video. A lot of the photo or video of individual baby/child I canʼt disclosed due to privacy issue. On average you will be able to see a 50% improvement after the 1st session of treatment.
